The Modern Atlanta Dance Festival
The Modern Atlanta Dance Festival (MAD) was created by Douglas Scott and Full Radius
Dance in 1999 to showcase the diversity and excellence of the local dance scene. The MAD
Festival is Atlanta's only professionally adjudicated modern/contemporary dance event.
The MAD Festival provides audiences with the highest quality of dance and cultivates new
audiences for contemporary dance, particularly those who are attracted by the festival
format. The festival allows audiences to experience a variety of choreographers, techniques
and artistic visions in a single evening and builds community between the many artists and
their audiences.
Over sixty different companies and individual artists have appeared at the MAD Festival.
Since 2004, the Marcus Jewish Community Center Atlanta has co-presented the Festival in
conjunction with Full Radius Dance. Previous partnership in the presentation of the MAD
Festival have included Agnes Scott College, Several Dancers Core, and ArtScape - a project of
Central Atlanta Progress.
